PROFESSIONAL STRETCHER BARS & CROSSBARS

Posted on April 19, 2016 by Alan Black

Due to demand we have introduced to our store the professional stretcher bars and crossbars that we use to make our bespoke stretched canvases.

We are the largest stockists of professional stretcher bars in Scotland.  All our bars are in stock and ready for immediate dispatch.  Our current stretcher bar lengths range from 12 to 48 inches and we will shortly be expanding our range to include bars for even larger frames.

ABOUT OUR STRETCHER BARS

Our stretcher bars are 22mm deep and 55mm wide and are notched for crossbars from 30 inches upwards.  They are made from edge laminated European pine to reduce warping.  This also allows for the removal of knots and imperfections.  The mortises in the stretcher bars are chiselled to ensure a tighter fit for the crossbars.  This results in greater stability when stretching canvas and helps to maintain a square frame whilst stretching your canvas.

Our professional stretcher bars are sold in pairs and every purchase includes solid Beech wedges.

ABOUT OUR CROSSBARS
Our professional crossbars are also made from edge laminated European pine.  The crossbars are 16mm deep and 50mm wide with a starting size of 12inches and are notched from 30 inches upwards to accommodate another cross bar.

Our crossbars are whole length bars.  Only one crossbar is required (for the shorter length) on frames where one side of the stretcher frame size is below 30 inches and the other is 30 inches or above.

These crossbars are handed.  They are not half bars.  This means that if you are ordering two crossbars in order to build a single frame where both sides of the stretcher frame are over 30 inches that you must select both a TOP and a BOTTOM crossbar.  This will ensure that you obtain the correct cross bars that you need for your stretcher frame.

Cross Bars are sold in single lengths.

OUR STRETCHER BARS AND CROSSBARS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SIMILAR PRODUCTS OFFERED BY OTHER SELLERS.
